Photo AlbumAbstract Painting Part IIMay 21, '06 12:10 PM
for everyone
Had my 2nd abstract painting class today, had lotsa fun! I still cant believe I did 6 paintings (some are very small) Very intensed and everyone was in the mood; so much so we only had a short half an hour lunch and everyone was eager to come back to paint hehehe

Today Ms Yaeli showed us her collection of books and brochures from famous artists. We were supposed to find our tone and inspiration from whichever artist we find appeals to us. I chose 4 different styles to work with and had too much fun! I will always remember what Ms Yaeli said "To lose our inhibitions, to stop being so conscious and precious of our work and be spontaneous and work fast. Drop that analytical mind. Some mistakes can become beautiful stains. Use of accent colours to enhance our otherwise dull painting"

This is our last lesson with Ms Yaeli as she will be having her exhibition at The Rocks next weekend. We were also invited to see her works on Sat. Michelle and I were talking about going together. It will definitely be an eye-opener, Im looking forward to that.

Next week, we will be having a guest lecturer and Im sure we will have loads of fun learning different perspectives and media for painting. Im looking forward to that.

P.S: The acrylic paint under my nails took a week to wash off and now Im adding a whole new layer. If anyone has any tips on getting them off other than handsoap please let me know. Much appreciated.

To my abstract painting classmates:-
As I've reached my limit of upload for the month, I only chose pics which I thought was best. I will email you guys individually the pics that might not be in this album if not you can wait till early June when I get my upload quota again.

Seeya all next week!

Bern
xoxo

Cool! I would love to see it for myself. I haven't been to as much art galleries as I wished I had. But I will start from visiting the art exhibition that Ms Yaeli will be having this coming sat at The Rocks, Sydney. Maybe I could also visit the Museum of Contemporary Art which is at The Rocks as well if I have the time.

At least I have been to the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra and seen the works of Jackson Pollock and also the pop art of Andy Warhol - Marilyn Monroe, Mao Tse-Tung and the famous campbell soup and many other australian & aboriginal art.

Thanks alot for your kind words Alice!

I guess we were let to express ourselves freely and most people are still inclined to do landscape paintings (from photo or postcard) in the more representational way - like in oil painting. I think most abstract artists start with representational art and then slowly move away and become semi-abstract before becoming totally abstract.

Thanks for your kind words. Not exactly an artist but hope to be one in future. But you might burst out laughing if I told you I am in construction.

Seeing some of you pictures remind's me of music. I had once talked to another person that played in a rock group at the time and we were talking about some songs and what they mean to us. When you close yours eyes we see stories and with the flow of music we feel and see colors like a dream hard to explain (And Without drugs Ha Ha). I hold out talking about this story. Because he said everyone hears but few feel music. He laughed and said people would think that we were crazy, But I understood what he was talking about. We only talked for about an hour, But it was so important at the time to me that some, another human could understand. A few years ago I found out that he was a painter like you and no one knew. He name was james Marshal Hendrix or Jimi Hendrix.

Hi Tony,
Actually those pics were from May 2006.
My colleague wanted to see them and I had to set it to everyone for her to see it.
My friend and I are setting up a stall in the markets this sun for the 1st time selling our cards made with jap papers and paintings.
Wish us luck!!!
