I know I havent been posting for a long long time... Been so busy at work. Snowed under! Its usually the case just before end of the year. Everyone seems to want everything before Xmas! But I still try to find time to paint to relax myself and relieve the stress....
Michelle and I decided we should try painting outdoors for a change. We picked Bradley's Head which is a National Park in Manly. It is quite near to the Taronga zoo. Beautiful views, beautiful day, lotsa people having a picnic or chilling out. There was even a wedding shoot for a while. Really interesting.
What I was afraid most was people watching whilst I was painting hahahah yeah it does give you more pressure *laugh. Fortunately, we found a secluded corner where theres not as much people. Still there were some people who came to have a look and had a chat with us, which was quite nice. One guy suggested I sell my paintings in the market hahaha He said start small who knows one day.... hahaha He was a funny guy! Another lady told us she often sees people painting in this area. Also asked us how long we have been painting and where do we usually paint. We said that was our 1st time painting outdoors hahaha. After our chat, she said she should go take some art lessons too. Glad we inspired someone that day haha. Also a guy said we should do the spit junction to manly walk and do some painting. He said the walk takes 3 hrs my god we wouldnt be able to carry all our stuff for that long lolz. I guess you either do the walking or the painting...
Anyway, as you have seen from my previous work, Im not really into detail so it was quite hard to paint what I see. I still try to do abit of both - abstract and representational. I had the opera house and harbour bridge right in front of me, its hard not to paint it. So my 1st painting I tried but got bored and started my 2nd one. I was trying to paint a tower like structure that looks like a mini lighthouse and a boat went passed so i painted that too. The third one was abit more abstract I was trying to paint the sky the sea and the people fishing at the dock which looks nothing like the real scene hehe.
Anyway, I had a fun time. The only difficulty was that I was painting with only 2 plastic boxes of water to wash my brushes, luckily my paintings werent that muddy hahaha We found later on that there was actually a toilet near where we parked our car, we could have got some fresh water...
We should do this more often... find a new place for some new inspirations...
