This romance cross sci-fi movie is about a couple whose relationship turned sour and went through a procedure of erasing memories of each other, where Joel Barish (Jim Carrey) half way thru did not wanna erase his memory of Clementine (Kate Winslet) who did the procedure 1st and did not know him anymore. The start and end of the movie shows both of them as strangers mysteriously bumping into each other not knowing each other and falling in love all over again.
This is a brilliant movie by Charlie Kaufman who manages again to intrigue the audience and make them ponder about what if? What if we can erase bad memories of our relationships and start afresh? Are we really capable of forgetting a romance? If we could maybe it would have saved alot of broken hearts.
Don't go just to see attractive Kirsten Dunst, Elijah Wood and Mark Ruffalo. Jim Carrey plays an introvert this time and is not pulling any faces which was good as he really brought out his best. Kate Winslet also wowed the audience with her "colourful" personality in the movie and played a role she had never tried before very well. You might think Kate and Jim is a mismatch but they did prove everyone wrong and they had lotsa chemistry in the movie and made everyone believe that they are in a love/hate relationship...
Do go rent a DVD of this movie. You wouldnt regret it... The best of Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet I would say...
